Salesforce.com Spring ’13 Release Exam Notes for Administrator and Developers

If you are planning to write the Salesforce.com Spring ’13 Release Exam – here are my Notes for Administrator and Developers (Referer to the respective sections). Use the following notes as reference in addition to Release Notes and Release Training

Chatter Enhancements

End User Chatter enhancements

  • Can Post to Public Chatter Groups
    • Can Post irrespective of being a member or not
    • If posted to a group in which you are not member – post will appear in 3 places – Group, All company and Group Members What I follow feed
    • Can search in Public chatter groups and private groups
      • Can search using phrase, hashtag topic, at mention or file name. Can use wild cards
      • Recently viewed displayed when users click on peoples filter
        • For ORGs where less than 25 persons – all people are shown
        • All users are calculated for the number of users
      • Search Chatter on Global search now called Search feed
      • Users can reply to chatter email notification with ‘like’ to like a post
      • Chatter messenger takes less space
      • Connect in Apex available through developer preview

Chatter Tasks

  • View Tasks in Chatter Feed
  • Can view tasks in related records you follow in Chatter (Created by you or others)
  • Create Tasks from Chatter feed of a record
  • View Chatter Tasks is auto enabled
  • Create Chatter Tasks enabled from setup  >> customize >> Chatter settings

Data.com

  • 200 million accounts from 200 countries
  • Search by city
  • Differentiate records that they have and records purchansed in the search results
  • Exported records are accessible from files tab
  • Enhancements to Data.com Corporate and Premium
    • Additional countries not available for accounts
    • Searching for city will return the name of city within the country
    • If files tab is disables then export will be emailed to user
    • Check Mark and Green Dot
      • Record is only exported (
      • Record is imported and then deleted
      • Record is only imported
      • Record is only matched via clean
      • Record Matched using clean and exported
    • Improve data quality
      • Inactive records can be compared with data.com for possible updates
      • Customers using Data.com Clean – matching accounts with D&B and DUNS
    • Previously Inactive records were not compared
      • Now can compare inactive records to data.com
        • Inactive when record is flagged by a data.com user as inaccurate (email / phone)
        • Record is no more associated with contact
      • Can use DUNSright matching
      • Better matching of International Account Data
      • Configurable match threshold – admin can control match rates
        • Lower threshold – more matches
        • Increasing threshold – better quality
      • Matching – off cycle release

Sales Cloud

Forecast Enhancements

  • Can forecast and view quotas by quarter
  • Admin to set forecast period to quarterly (from monthly) and define qhich quarters to display in forecast tab
  • All forecast adjustments and quotas are lost if period setting is changed
  • Opportunities from partners included in forecast
    • However Partner portal users do not have access to forecast
    • To include partner opportunities in forecast admin needs to enable partner user in the hierarchy and person is assigned to active forecast manager
    • Forecast manager must be the owner of the partner account in order for opportunity to roll up in the forecast
    • Partner users need “Allow Forecasting: checkbox checked in user profile
  • Can adjust width of forecast column
  • Forecast reports – filter on “My forecast Items” and “All forecast Items”

Salesforce for Outlook

  • Side Panel generally available
    • On selecting an email the side panel displays up to 4 matching leads and contacts with Open activities, history and opportunities (in order they appear in To, From and CC)
    • Multiple matches are found users can select them to display
    • Users can add selected email to any of the displayed leads contacts accounts or opportunities or can search for other records to add them to
  • Enable side panel
    • From data settings in Outlook configurations
    • For security the organization sales force URL be registered as the remote site
  • To improve sync performance contacts sync every hour and not 10 mins
  • Improved security – users prompted to login when they are not already logged in to salesforce when they click on outlook configuration icon from the task bar

State and Country picklist

  • Beta release
  • Only for Standard object address fields
    • Accounts, Contacts, Leads, Quotes and Contracts
    • Instead of validation rules use picklists
    • Contact salesforce to enable state and country picklist in your ORG
    • Next steps involve using Metadata API and needs to be carefully planned
      • “State and Country Picklist” in Admin Setup >> Date Management
      • Workbench tool
      • Create file package.xml
      • Upload package.xml to retrieve address configuration file
      • Edit the values
        • All ISO standard countries
        • States in US & Canada
      • Unlike other picklists state and country do not allow invalid values
      • Marking country as inactive will prevent the import of records with that value
      • Integration value – if you have values that are difficult to re-factor the new ISO values you can continue to use those values for integration by using this
      • Upload the configuration file – select deploy
    • Cleaning data
      • Scan data
      • Convert Data
        • Map Countries and States

Salesforce Touch

  • Version of salesforce for touchscreen devices
  • Supported on
    • Apple ipad 2 or later including mini
    • iOS version 5.1.1. or higher
    • Available via
      • iPad browser
      • downloadable app
      • appexchaneg o app store
      • All standard (sales and others) and custom apps can be accessed
      • Dashboard and VF tabs are supported
      • VF components are not supported (only VF tabs)
      • Chatter is no longer required to use Touch
